Commissioning the artist

I have been drawing and painting figures and portraits long before I took to painting landscapes. I use pastels or oils and can work from life, if sittings can be arranged, or I can use photographs if they are of good quality. I also paint scenes and buildings. If you are thinking of having a painting of your house or a particular landscape, then I would be pleased to discuss your requirements.

I also paint and draw figures, which can be full figure portraiture or just figure studies in a variety of pose, setting or guise. These are available from the artists collection or you can commission a particular study in the medium and size of your choice.

How To Arrange A Commission

Portraits can be painted in oils, acrylic or pastels, if you have any preference. These prices do not include framing, though I can offer advice. All commissions are undertaken on a non-refundable deposit basis prior to commencement of the painting. There are no travel expenses within Central Scotland. However, the commissioner would have to meet the costs of travelling elsewhere in the uk. I would consider travelling outside the uk to undertake a commission.
Otherwise I require good quality photographs to work from. If you can also give me any further information on particular features/colouring etc, that is always helpful.

Please contact me by phone or Email so that I can help you with any enquiries. Generally I prefer to meet the sitter and make preparatory sketches and get an understanding of their colouring and something of their character.
I try to record as much as possible with the help of good quality photographs - this way the portrait can be completed in the studio without further need for the sitter to be present. This is generally more agreeable for the sitter, in terms of time and comfort.

I am available to travel throughout the UK and Internationally.
