Update on work progress
Currently I am working on producing a new collection of work for exhibition (no date or place confirmed yet). The genre is different; mainly figurative. There will be some landscape based pieces, though it is more in connection with a theme that will be running through the body of the collection.
Prince of the Power of the Air ( Oil painting )
Years ago, before I got into landscape painting, I worked exclusively on portraiture and figure drawing. Much of the figurative drawings were produced from imagination. The figures weren’t always technically correct, but they often worked – in the sense that the academic standard was of secondary importance to the allegorical content. I guess you could take a contemporary artist like Peter Howson, as a good example. It isn’t that Peter isn’t a great artist and figure painter, but he admits himself that as a very prodigious creator, when in the rush of creative flurry, it is the story or subjective content that is important to him.
Hopefully it won’t be tooo long before I have something new to show you!
A few wise words from the masters
